I think we all can agree that things have been very different since the COVID-19 pandemic began. People have seen things in the last two months that they have never seen in their lifetimes. Things which we don’t have control over will change, but our relationship with God does not have to change. Our prayer life doesn’t have to be on lockdown. Our worship to God doesn’t have to be canceled, and our faith does not have to become weak!
How will you emerge spiritually from this pandemic? Will you emerge feeling defeated or will you emerge in victory? What you are doing RIGHT NOW in quarantine will determine how you will emerge spiritually! Some people have pushed the pause button on their relationships with God because they can’t get to church during the pandemic. I’ve personally known of many great saints who were home bound and unable to make it to church, yet they were heroes of the faith!
This pandemic is your wake up call! God is showing us, individually, how spiritual we really are and how important our relationships are with Him in our home. “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting” (Acts 2:1, 2).
We get this image in our mind that this happened inside of a church building, tabernacle, or temple, but the Bible said it happened in a house!
“And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” (Acts 2:46, 47).
The ministry of the early Church was made strong in people’s homes, and if we can’t be spiritually strong in our homes, then how can we be spiritually strong at church? Consider what happened in homes in the book of Acts. People were filled with the Holy Ghost, Jesus Christ was preached, healings occurred, angels and visions were seen. It’s evident what can happen inside our homes if we establish our prayer lives at home.
How will you emerge from your time spent in quarantine? When I researched the word quarantine, it actually means a period of forty (40) days. Since this virus began, we have been in quarantine for more than 40 days. In Exodus, chapter 24, Moses went up into Mount Sinai into the presence of the Lord for 40 days, when he came down from the mountain his face was shining bright with the glory of God! Your quarantine days should be time shut in with God. Your personal relationship with God should become brighter as it did for Moses! BUT, the time we spend getting closer to God isn’t without difficulty. It’s not because God makes it hard, but it’s because the enemy of our souls makes it hard. Consider David and Goliath. In 1 Samuel 17, the Bible tells us that Goliath presented himself to Israel for 40 days. He was taunting Israel every day. In a lot of ways, Goliath represents the giants we face in life, he represents our challenges and difficulties that we must overcome. But at the end of a period of 40 days (representing quarantine) the giant was defeated, and great victory came to Israel.
Be faithful to God in your period of quarantine, and I believe great victory is on its way for you!
